Alchemy-A Juice Bar And So Much More-Ubud, Bali
What is Alchemy, you ask? Alchemy is part vegan café and salad bar, part juice bar, part retail shop and health store, part gathering place, part community builder and part health clinic. Alchemy is a treasure, and I’ve never been anywhere like it in all of my travels. First of all, the juices they offer are amazing. Nutritious, organic, and absolutely delicious, they are the perfect tonic to the Bali heat. I loved the fact that their straws are made from papaya. The restaurant serves salads, and what an amazing salad you will get. First of all, they are huge, and you get to decide what toppings you would like before it is all tossed together. They offer many great things to choose from such as goji berries, avocado, raw falafel, and delicious salad dressings as well. They also grow their own lettuce. If only the U.S. offered more of these kinds of pick-your-topping sort of places instead of all the yogurt shops that have popped up.
Alchemy also sells incense, essential oils, an amazing coconut palm syrup which has a lower glycemic index than sugar, vitamin supplements, and many other things which will delight you. Oh, and don’t forget about the chocolate. They make their own raw chocolate treats from healthy ingredients, and I had one of the best peanut butter cups that I’ve ever eaten in my life. They don’t use white sugar or dairy in their chocolates, either. Alchemy is also a place for the community to get together, and I enjoyed talking to the many interesting people who hung out there. There is also a health clinic upstairs where you can have a colonics treatment done, get a recommended fasting program, or get a live blood analysis.
Alchemy was one of the places that impressed me the most about Ubud and is a place that I will return to again and again. Alchemy is located on Jalan Penestanan in Ubud. They are open everyday from 7am-9pm.
