/ What It’s Like To Stay In A Travelopo Mallorca Villa
Travelopo asked me to review one of their villas in Mallorca, an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I’ve rented apartments while traveling but never an entire villa, and I have to say there were a lot of perks to having a villa for the week. The best part was that there were three bedrooms so I was able to invite a few friends to join me. We stayed in Villa Nico, a very traditional Spanish-style house.
My Experience Staying In A Travelopo Mallorca Villa
My favorite part was having our own pool. The setting outside was just gorgeous with towering hills, plenty of flowers and plants surrounding us, and it felt very private.
We had cute neighbors, too! I’ve never been this close to sheep before, and I loved the rural setting. We were also close enough to walk into town, so while the Mallorca villa had a country feel, it was still easy to get to restaurants and shopping in beautiful Pollenca town.
I also loved that we had tables and chairs outside to take full advantage of the gorgeous setting.
The kitchen was huge, and had pots and pans and everything needed to prepare a meal, which we did. I will mention the knives were too dull to even slice bread with, so if you plan on cooking, I would definitely recommend bringing your own knives.
We used the outdoor grill at our Travelopo villa to grill our own fish and prawns which were incredible.
The villa itself felt very spacious with large rooms and high ceilings with wooden beams. Our villa had three bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom. The beds could have been more comfortable, as they were a bit old and creaky, but Travelopo offers many different villas, some of which have newer furnishings.
I will mention that this villa in particular is wheelchair accessible, for those looking for a Mallorca villa with this service.
The bathrooms were also spacious and airy, and I loved that my ensuite bathroom offered both a shower and a bathtub.
We did have a few maintenance issues when we arrived, but I must say that Travelopo was wonderful, even sending someone out on a Sunday to make the repairs. For their excellent service alone, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a Travelopo villa in the future.
A few helpful hints for those arriving at a Travelopo villa:
1. The villas don’t have anything in them when you arrive. We arrived late at night and didn’t even have water to drink. Not a good thing after flying all day. Don’t arrive at your villa without water and toilet paper. You will also need to buy laundry soap, dish soap, and other essentials before arriving.
2. If you are renting a villa in Mallorca, I would recommend arriving before it gets dark. It took us two hours to find our villa because there are no street lights, and our directions were not correct. We wound up meeting all the neighbors and stopping at every villa in the neighborhood before finding the correct one!
3. The Spanish style houses are built to stay cool. At night, especially, they become very cold. Neither of the heaters that came with our villa worked, so I recommend bringing some warm clothes for the cool nights.
Overall, my stay in a Travelopo was a great one, and I’d highly recommend it as a way to stay in Mallorca or anywhere else in Europe where they offer villas to rent.
A big thanks to Travelopo for hosting my wonderful stay in Mallorca! All thoughts and feelings are my own. Travelopo has over 100,000 villas, apartments and chalets throughout Europe on their site – Check their Mallorca Villas out before you go!
Hi, we loved your article and wanted to ask some questions you might have input on. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Cheers!
Fellow travelers of Mallorca,
I would like to ask some questions for my upcoming early September 6-day trip to Mallorca. We are thinking to stay in Palma for 2 days and to spend 4 days near a beach. Just FYI we have a 6-month old baby who will be on his first international travel : )
Basically I am trying to resolve my desire to avoid the “mass market” (I’d like to stay in a quaint charming village) and “sleepy town” (I’d like there to be something going on in the evenings) in the Southeast of Mallorca. My question is generally whether Santanyi is a quaint village with enough nightlife to make it a perfect place to stay, or is it really more sleepy, suggesting that because we will be in the Southeast we should sacrifice our hunt for the idyllic and “unspoilt” and just stay in one of the resort towns of Cala d’Or, or somewhere in the area.
After seeing some pictures of Santanyi, I got the impression that it was a vibrant, charming little village and we decided to base in Santanyi for excursions to Cala Llombards, Cala Ratjan and the Cala d’Or area beaches. After walking the town via google, I got the impression of Santanyi was that it closes at 4 or 5 o’clock, a bit on the sleepy side with very little activity after 5p… I plan to be at a bar/restaurant from 5 or so daily, and am curious whether the village has real Mallorcan food, and also if it is as quaint and charming a village as you’ll find in the Southeast.
Also, it is important to us to have local Mallorcan cooking and culture.
Any general and specific thoughts you might have are greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
sorry, I didn’t make it to that village. I’m sure if you do a search on Google, you will find the info you need. Have fun!
