A Casa di Amici: A Friendly Hostel In Palermo
A Casa di Amici is a great choice for a hostel in Palermo. The owners stay on the property and were very friendly and helpful. They were always around to answer my questions about getting around Palermo and gave great advice about the places that I should visit while there. A Casa di Amici’s location was also very convenient in the Politeama area of the city. I loved that if I needed a break from sight-seeing the hotel was never very far away. They had a great common area to chill out and meet other guests. Santo makes drums and his drums were on display throughout the hostel. The architecture of…

Island Of Crete Beaches: Agii Apostoloi
I came to Crete without much of a plan in mind. The island of Crete is known for its beautiful beaches, and my only hope was to explore as many of them as I could. I came to Crete now, in March, because my frequent flier miles were going to expire, so it was now or never. What I didn’t research was that it would be barely sixty degrees, and none of the buses start running to the island of Crete beaches until May. First Impressions Of Crete
It is only a matter of hours, and I am already deeply loving Crete. These first views of Crete are wrapping me in their wonder and taking me by surprise, and already, I don’t want to leave. Maybe, it’s because I came with no expectations. I had no time to “research” this place. But, Greece has a way of capturing my heart. And, this has just brought back all of those feelings. It started with the plane ride in. Snow-covered mountains which I had not expected to see glistened in the sun and beckoned me to this island of olive groves, vineyards, and rolling hills. The bus ride from the…

Letting Go Of Baggage: A Weight Loss Plan For Your “Stuff”
The less I needed, the better I felt. • Charles Bukowski Well, here I go again. Almost, six months ago, I sold everything I owned, and moved to Mexico. Well, almost everything. I still had SIX suitcases, which is a lot to carry if you want to be free. But, you know what? I wasn’t quite ready to let go of everything yet. I did pretty good at downsizing from a three-bedroom house to this, but it was still a heavy load. But, now, I’m finally ready. I’m ready to exchange my stuff for adventure, freedom, and lightness. If you are learning how to be a nomad, one of the main…

Announcing My New Website: Eating The Globe- A New Travel Food Blog
Yes, I have started a new travel food blog called Eating The Globe. I have always said that menu’s are my maps. I tend to visit places for the food (and the beaches). So, I thought it was long overdue that I start bringing you my advice on the food in the areas that I visit. Yes, I have a Food section on this blog, and I will continue to keep you updated here as well, but I want to fill an entire website with advice about the food of the places that I visit, tell you about the markets, and the food stories. I want to do more. So much more…
