5 Reasons Why You Need To Book A Flight To Edinburgh Right Now
Are you planning a vacation, but aren’t sure where to go? I say, book a flight to Edinburgh. Out of all the places I traveled to in Europe, Edinburgh was my absolute favorite. Edinburgh is a city that touched me to my very core. It combines magic, tradition, and culture, and there really is no place like it. Here are:
5 Reasons Why You Need To Book A Flight To Edinburgh Right Now
1. Walkability
I adore cities that I can walk in, and Edinburgh was perfect for walking. Every step I took seemed like a surprise. There was just so much to see. I went in May when everything was blooming. I loved the cobblestone streets, the many parks, and how easy it was to get around.
2. Stunning Architecture And Scenery
I was captivated by the contrast between the Old Town and the New Town divided by Princes Street. The buildings of the Royal Mile took my breath away, but the neo-classical and Georgian influences in the New Town were just as stunning. One of my favorite activities in Edinburgh was walking down random streets to view the buildings there.
3. The Flourishing Food Scene In Edinburgh
Edinburgh had one of the best food scenes of any city I’ve ever visited. Michelin-starred restaurants to hole-in the wall pubs, there is food for every taste. Don’t leave without trying the fish and chips or the sticky toffee pudding which could stand alone as its own reason to visit Edinburgh.
4. Staying At A B&B
The absolute highlight of my trip to Edinburgh was staying at the 16 Learmonth Terrace B&B (now closed). Joon and Peter, the owners were some of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met. At a point when I was starting to feel homesick on the road, having Joon cook me extravagant breakfasts which brought me to tears, do my laundry, and turn on the electric blanket before I came back each evening made me feel so cared for and spoiled. You will make new friends by staying at a B&B. Joon and I still write to each other to this day. Don’t miss this lovely experience to get a taste for the hospitality that Scotland’s people are so well-known for.
5. An Easy Location To Take Day Trips From
Whatever you do, don’t go to Edinburgh without taking a few day trips into the highlands. The scenery will take your breath away. Make sure you spend some time with the highland cattle, and don’t leave without seeing Nessie!
Awesome reasons to go! You’re right the architecture there is just stunning, especially in your second photo! Thanks for sharing!
I recently visited Edinburgh on a day trip from London and loved the city. Agreed its very walkable; from the train station everything is accessible by foot!
I would love to check out the highlands. Reason enough!
