Dusit Thani-An Oasis Of Heaven In Bangkok
From the minute I walked into the 5-star Dusit Thani Bangkok, I felt like royalty. The smiling staff couldn’t have been more attentive. The lobby with its soothing colors of deep purple and Ceylon blue felt welcoming, and I felt myself deeply relax, even though I had just walked in off the busy streets of Bangkok. The location, next to the Si Lom subway and Sala Daeng sky train, made it easy to get anywhere in Bangkok that I needed to go.
The Executive Suite room, where I stayed, was incredibly spacious and had a stunning view of Lumpini Park, and the sunrise each morning.
My bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on, and I loved having a pillow menu where I could choose the type of pillow that I wanted.
The office area was convenient, and the drawers of the desk were full of office supplies like staples, paper clips, rubber bands, and even Post-It notes!
The spa-like bathroom was huge, and even had an essential oil burner in the bathroom that was filled with lemongrass oil that scented the air with its rejuvenating aroma during my stay.
The International breakfast buffet in the morning was a real treat, and they had everything you could imagine available. Eggs Benedict, a doughnut tree, an Indian section with lentils and naan bread, noodle soup, pastries, a full salad bar, and eggs cooked any way you wanted. It just didn’t stop!
The restaurant also had a choice of Vietnamese, French, Thai, Italian, and Chinese restaurants, and even a steakhouse. I ate at Thien Dong, and enjoyed the freshness of the Vietnamese flavors. Don’t miss the soft-shell crab salad!
I was very impressed with the fitness center, and was so glad to be able to work off all the delicious food that I ate while staying there. Many people took a break from the heat, and enjoyed the pool. And just to prove that they’ve thought of everything, the Dusit Thani even has a golf driving range. The word Dusit Thani means, “Town In Heaven”, and it definitely lives up to its name.
But what was most heaven-like was the Devarana Spa. I have had massages and visted spas all over the word from Bali to Tahiti, and never have I experienced a treatment as good as the Devarana Signature Massage. No detail was overlooked. The steaming bowl of oranges and kaffir lime leaves which were placed under the face pillow were a nice touch.
The massage consisted of a mixture of Ayurvedic techniques mixed in with Shiatsu and Thai massage. Hot compresses were used during the massage to loosen the muscles. I have never felt so comforted and indulged than I did during this 90-minute treatment.
If you are looking for a luxury stay in Bangkok, that will leave you feeling pampered and spoiled, I highly recommend the Dusit Thani.
