Join Me For A Magical Walk Through San Miguel de Allende
Magic is the energy I feel each day when I awake in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Suspended in time is what I feel when I walk through San Miguel de Allende’s cobblestone streets. The days seem to end before they even began.
You have filled my senses to the brim during your sunlit days. The sound of church bells fills my ears mixed with the crackle of thunder and fireworks being shot through your cannons. The smell of your chilies mingled with lavender and mint from your gardens stirs me.
I am seduced with the beauty of your doorways. Each doorway the hues of paprika, mustard, and naranja, burning into my mind filling it with ideas for paintings, making me want to create art from you and for you. I run my fingers along your textured walls. I touch my cheek to your cool stones. I cannot help it.
Your Spanish words fill my ears, and leave my tongue and sound beautiful and foreign and exotic. I taste your chiles en nogada, your sweet, warm cajeta churros, your spice, the earth in your moles, and I remember what it is like to be a child. A child when everything is new again and unexplored. San Miguel de Allende, you have made me curious again, and all I want to do is skip through your streets and share your beauty with the world.

Great pictures! Mexico is such a photogenic and colorful country! I haven’t mad it to San Miguel de Allende yet, but I’m in my way there soon!
You will love it, Eric!! Every walk is an adventure…
Oh, I so love the street art! Wonderful stuff.
I also love the STREET ART! Muros en Blanco Distrito de Arte is my project, begun in 2012 when murals were still not permitted on the street. Now with well over 100 murals painted by local, national & international artists, I love to show off my neighborhood! I share our stories of all the murals, artists, neighbors, working with the municipal administrations, what we had to do to make this happen & how we keep it going.
Come join me on the street! Check out facebook – StreetArt SMA
Or meet on the street in front of Via Organica (Margarito Ledesma #2) in Colonia Guadalupe.
Every Monday, Thursday & Friday.

I’ve always been curious about this city after hearing so much buzz about it, and now I see why! Argh– but now you’ve got me craving churros…
i love the colors! wow. also craving churros…
EVERYTHING …………… San Miguel is beautiful and holds mysteries … I am always amazed and surprised each and every day!
Me, too, Sandee!! What a blessing to live here.
Lovely photos. It seems like there is something magical in every direction! I love the ornate doorway.
That little worker burro is pretty hard to resist, so he gets my vote. I also enjoyed trying to imagine the co-mingling scents of chilies, lavender and mint.
Beautiful, colorful photos! I especially love that doorway. Such intricate details!
Beautiful! I have heard so much about San Miguel De Allende and am thrilled to finally get a proper, if virtual, tour! It looks like a thoroughly inspired and enchanting town and is rumoured to a mecca for writers and artists so you are no doubt in your element! I love your shot of your absolutely gorgeous walk home!
I was here 13 years ago. Truly interesting town. Now that I live in Guatemala, it’s very similar with traditions and Mayan culture.
I love how colourful Mexico is!!!!!
First visited 7 years ago and bought property. Came back 2 year later and started to build our home and shop. Moved into the house 2 years ago, sold the house in Houston and never looked back.
Just love my life in the wonderful city.
It is incredible, isn’t it, Preston? I do,too, and feel lucky to be here!!
Wonderful colors and textures. Looks like friendly people too!
Hi Val! Great site! Loved the photos on this post. I was in San Miguel earlier this year visiting my mom who lived there. I can’t say that it was my favorite Mexican town but it is indeed a pretty spot…and I love the Mexican colors which you’ve captured so well.
