Pictures From Belitung Island, Sumatra
“The best beach in the world.” That was what I thought when I stepped onto Tanjung Tinggi Beach on Belitung Island in Sumatra. Pictures can’t give you the feeling of what it’s like to walk among the granite rocks that are towering above you. The water of the ocean is crystal clear and just invites you to sink in. I was the only one on the beach when I went and the solitude of the place just made me relax even more. I first found out about this beach by seeing a picture of it on the internet, and then I decided that I just had to go. It didn’t let me down. Other areas of Belitung Island are just as beautiful. You will find the smallest island in the world here, Sand Island, which is covered in starfish. If you have kids, I would stay away from the playgrounds. As you will see from the last few pictures, they are terrifying.

Absolutely stunning shots, makes me feel a little like I’m on that beach right now.
Great photos. I absolutely enjoy the beaches of Belitung, they are so picturesque and very Seychelles-like. Other than the beaches of northern coast which you covered here, I also went to the eastern and southern shores. The eastern beaches are so-so, though the colorful fishermen boats decorating the shores make for good photos. The southern part is worth the journey though, Pantai Penyabong is like Tanjung Tinggi. Not as high, but in a way that’s a good thing because that means you can climb up the granite stones!
