Big Island Beaches: Tips For Kua Bay, Hawaii

    May 8, 2017 / 1 Comment

If you’re looking to explore Big Island beaches near Kona in Hawaii, Kua Bay is definitely beautiful. Also known as Manini’owali Beach, the water is clear turquoise and the white sand is perfectly soft. However, it is a very small beach, and it can get very crowded. It’s just above the airport, so it’s a short drive from Kona. Bring snorkel gear, as the snorkeling is stellar when the water is calm. It’s a great place to spot turtles and the occasional dolphin or monk seal. But, be aware that the waves can get rough here, and there is sometimes an undertow. I got caught in one when I went, so pay…

Puuhonua O Honaunau-Be Forgiven At The City Of Refuge On The Big Island

    April 24, 2017 / 1 Comment

In Hawaii, on the Big Island just south of Kona is the City of Refuge, known as Puuhonua O Honaunau. In ancient times, Puuhonua O Honaunau was the place where those who had broken laws could go to be forgiven and to avoid death. Today, it’s a place where people go to ponder what needs to be released in their lives. Seeking Forgiveness At Puuhonua O Honaunau While it used to be the place that people went for a second chance at life, I think when we ask for forgiveness from others and truly forgive others and ourselves, we give ourselves a second chance at life, too. Also, this sacred site is…

This Kauai Bike Path Will Show You Some Of The Best Views In Hawaii

    March 27, 2017 / 4 Comments

One of things that I loved the most about Kauai, my favorite island in Hawaii, is that there is so much more to do than just lie on the beach all day. Don’t get me wrong, I love relaxing on the beach, but I also love to be active. Biking is one of my favorite activities, so when I learned I could rent a bike to see the east side of the island by following the Kauai bike path in Kapaa, I was all about checking it out. I rented my bike from Coconut Coasters Bike Rental  which had a great choice of different styles to rent. If you leave…

This Is Not Another Boring Packing List

    February 27, 2017 / 2 Comments

Ok, you’re ready for that trip, or actually not ready for that trip. You meant to pack last night, but now you’re up at 4 AM packing throwing all the things into your suitcase, and now you’re panicking because it won’t close, and you are so desperate that you’ve actually googled what to pack. Before the smell of desperation gets to the airport and boards your plane before you do, it’s ok, I’ve got you covered. I’ll tell you what not to pack first, because, chances are you already packed it. Then, I’ll tell you what to pack. And, you’ll be at that airport with plenty of time for that Bloody…

Be Astonished By The Magical Hawaiian Ko Olina Lagoons

    February 14, 2017 / 13 Comments

When I first heard about the man-made Ko Olina Lagoons, which are surrounded by resorts, I wasn’t inclined to go. I usually prefer the natural beaches, those that are wild and untamed, away from the resorts and other people. But, my desire was to explore every inch of Oahu, the Hawaiian island, they are located on, so I went. And, not only was I glad that I went, I was completely astonished. There are four lagoons which really spotlight the incredible raw beauty of Hawaii. If you enter Ko Olina lagoons at Lagoon #1, you might become a little turned off. It’s filled with paddle boards, floaties, kids, and kayaks, and…
