Unforgettable Things To Do in Portland, Oregon
I moved back to Portland, Oregon after living in Charleston, SC and St Pete, FL the past four years. Moving back has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s not only one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever live, but there are so many things to do in Portland. The nature is everywhere with one of the largest urban forests in the United States, waterfalls and hiking paths just a short drive away, great places to kayak and spend time on the water. Yes, there is a rainy season, but Portland has incredible restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, and theaters to distract you. If you’re looking for…

Discovering Crater Lake: Your Ultimate Guide
Crater Lake is a place of profound beauty, majestic views, and incredible nature. It’s the deepest lake in the US, and probably the bluest, too. While Rim Village, can be crowded, I had many of the other viewpoints practically to myself. Don’t just go to Rim Village and think you’ve seen Crater Lake. The colors look different from different vantage points, and you will see so much more by driving around the entire lake. Even the drive to Crater Lake is stunning with beautiful landscapes, fumeroles, and a few waterfalls along the way. Make sure to stop at a few of the scenic overlooks along the way. Vidae Falls are…

Oregon Waterfalls: Butte Creek Falls
If you’re looking for an easy hike to see some Oregon waterfalls, I highly recommend a stop at Butte Creek Falls. It’s just over an hour’s drive from Portland, near Scott Mills. And, this mile-long easy hike will let you view two beautifully stunning waterfalls. The tranquil forest trail takes you to both Upper Butte Creek Falls and Butte Creek Falls. It’s often possible to walk behind Upper Butte Creek Falls which provides for a stunning view. Be careful of the slippery rocks, though. This is a great hike for people with all skill levels of hiking, including kids. You will want to keep an eye on your kids on…

Chasing Waterfalls At Silver Falls State Park In Oregon
Silver Falls State Park in Silverton, Oregon, is one of those rare places that waterfall chasers dream about. If you do the full trail, you can see 10 waterfalls, in a 7-mile loop which doesn’t require that much effort. Of course, the ease of seeing them, makes for a crowded trail. But, it’s definitely a trail worth exploring. Silver Falls State Park is pretty special, as there are four waterfalls, you can even walk behind which gives you a unique view of a waterfall if this is something you’ve never done. Five of the waterfalls are more than 100 feet high! Also, there are many side trails at Silver Falls…

Cape Horn: The Pacific NW Hike That Will Leave You Smitten
“There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.” – Linda Hogan Cape Horn, a dramatic series of cliffs that overlook the Washington side of the Columbia River, is one of the most scenic hikes that you will find in the Columbia Gorge. It’s also one of the closest hikes to travel to in the Gorge from either Portland or Vancouver. And during the week, you are likely to have the trails to yourself. The full loop is 7 miles, or it’s easy to hike the trail section by section, depending…
