What To Do In Bali: Bali Tours With Locals
If you are wondering what to do in Bali, I think there is nothing better than going on a tour with a local. The locals will give you more history and tell you more about the culture than someone who is just working for a tour company. There are many things to do with locals in Bali, so you can see all of the stunning things that Bali has to offer. Here are my suggestions.
What To Do In Bali: Bali Tours With Locals
1. See Ubud And The Monkey Forest
If you’re trying to figure out what to do in Bali, seeing the monkey forest with a local is something you definitely should do. Make sure the tour includes seeing a few temples in Ubud, too, and seeing some of the locally made wood carvings and jewelry.
2. Climb Mt. Batur For Sunrise

Mt. Batur can be very slippery in parts, so it’s definitely recommended to go with a guide. It is the second most sacred active volcano in Bali, so if you are looking for spiritual experiences in Bali, this is one you shouldn’t miss. If you go with a tour, they will usually cook you breakfast in the steam from the volcano, something you will definitely want after your two-hour trek up the volcano.
3. Visit The Bedulu Elephant Cave Temple

Goa Gajah, the Bedulu Elephant Cave temple has an incredible Ganesha statue and many other artifacts which are a part of Balinese culture. There is also a small waterfall, and the area has amazing views and scenery.
4. Visit The Sacred Banjar Hot Springs

If your search for what to do in Bali includes learning about the culture, make sure you include a visit to the Banjar hot springs. You can learn a lot about the Balinese culture and traditions here. If you visit with a local, they can also take you on a boat to see the dolphins in nearby Lovina.
5. Tour The Balinese Temples
There are thousands of temples in Bali, and traditional religion is the most important aspect of Balinese culture. Each temple is unique, and many of them are very ornate. Don’t forget to dress appropriately or bring a sarong.
6. See The Ujung Water Palace
The Ujung water palace was built to punish people for practicing black magic. It’s a very beautiful palace that has spectacular views over the volcanos and bay of Timor. It’s surrounded by a lush garden and pool.
7. See The Hundreds Of Butterflies At Butterfly Park
The park is really beautiful and you will see many different types of butterflies. The breeding area is especially interesting where you will see butterflies in all of their different stages. It’s great for kids and for those who love butterflies. Bring a camera.

That picture of Mt. Batur reminds me of the sunrise in Haleakala summit in Maui – absolutely breathtaking!

Yes, there are a lot of similarities between Hawaii and Bali!

Great list of things to do in Bali and quite useful. I would love to catch a sunrise shot off that mountain. Looks gorgeous. The hot springs also looks tempting. Good to know when to take a guide.
